Communication Coordinator at Grassroots Researchers Association (GRA)
Grassroot Researchers Association (GRA) is a non-political, rights-based organization registered in Nigeria in 2016. Dedicated to fostering evidence-based initiatives, GRA promotes development, justice, and victim support in communities. GRAprograms focus is on on climate change, conflict, security,justice, social economic development, and governance. GRA collaborates with diverse stakeholders, including funders, civil societies, victims, institutions, communities, local government, and the state. GRAwork centers on empowering marginalized groups, such as children, women, people with disabilities, victims of SGBV, and at-risk youth. GRA targets a broad range of individuals, including victims of SGBV, missing persons and vulnerable individuals. GRA operates from its head office in Abuja, regional offices in Maiduguri andothers offices in Adamawa, Yobe, Plateau, Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara State.

Job Title: Communication Coordinator
Location: Abuja (FCT) / Maiduguri, Borno

Job Summary
- The job involves developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy for GRA, managing content across various channels, building relationships with media outlets, organizing public events, monitoring media coverage, ensuring consistent branding, and providing communications support to program staff, including training and capacity building.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategythat aligns with GRA’s mission, objectives, and donor requirements.
- Create and manage content for various channels, including website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and multimedia materials (e.g., videos, infographics).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, influencers, and key stakeholders.
- Organize and manage public events(e.g., conferences, workshops, press conferences) to raise awareness and generate support for GRA’s work.
- Monitor media coverage and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure communication effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure consistent branding across all communication materials and channels.
- Provide communications support to program staff, including training and capacity building.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in communications or public relations in the non-profit or development sector.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing effective communication strategies.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience with digital content creation(e.g., website content, social media posts, videos) and management tools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills(both written and verbal).
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop) is a plus.
- Experience working in Nigeria (preferred).
