Job Summary
A reputable and fast-growing Tier-2 Microfinance Bank operating in Ikere, Ekiti State, is seeking an experienced, analytical, and results-driven financial professional to serve as its Head of Credit.
The successful candidate will lead the Credit Division, overseeing the entire credit life cycle from appraisal and risk assessment to disbursement, portfolio monitoring, and recovery.
The Head of Credit will be responsible for building a high-quality loan portfolio, maintaining non-performing loans (NPLs) within regulatory thresholds, and aligning lending operations with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
• Credit Strategy & Policy: Formulate, review, and implement credit policies and underwriting standards aligned with CBN guidelines and the bank’s risk appetite.
• Portfolio Management: Oversee portfolio quality, drive delinquency management, and maintain the Non-Performing Loan (NPL) ratio well below regulatory limits.
• Credit Appraisal & Underwriting: Evaluate, structure, and approve or recommend credit requests for MSMEs, group lending, and retail clients.
• Risk Assessment: Identify, measure, and mitigate credit risk across all loan products, ensuring adequate provisioning and credit loss protection.
• Loan Recovery & Workout: Direct credit recovery operations, manage default portfolios, and supervise legal and field recovery teams.
• Product Development: Partner with business development teams to design, test, and roll out market-relevant loan products tailored to the local economic environment.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with CBN credit risk management frameworks, NDIC guidelines, and internal governance policies.
• Team Leadership & Capacity Building: Supervise, mentor, and build capacity among credit analysts, loan officers, and field recovery personnel.
• Board & Executive Reporting: Prepare and present periodic portfolio quality, loan performance, and credit risk management reports to the Management and Board Credit Committee.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related discipline; a master’s degree is an added advantage.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in financial services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial credit role within a Microfinance Bank or Deposit Money Bank.
• Certifications: Microfinance Certified Banker (MCIB / MCP) qualification is mandatory. Additional professional certifications (ACIB, ACA, ACCA) are an added advantage.
• Technical Skills: Deep expertise in MSME lending, group lending dynamics, credit scoring, loan workout structures, and core banking software (e.g., BankOne, Finrak).
• Local Knowledge: Solid understanding of the Ekiti State business environment, micro-entrepreneurial trends, and agricultural value chains.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, sound judgment, negotiation skills, leadership, and uncompromised personal integrity.
