Job Description
How can you make a difference?

  • To provide statistical skills and technical support to the WASH sector for statistical data analysis, synthesis of a broad spectrum of data sources, harmonization, and institutionalization of data management tools (intervention profiling tool and sector dashboards), and to assist the Federal Ministry of Water Resources (FMWR) to roll out these tools at the sub-national level through the transfer of requisite skills and capacities for periodic data updates while ensuring that measures are in place to enable the use of data and evidence generated for policy formulation, planning, and budgeting at all levels.
  • The consultant will provide statistical skills and technical support to the WASH sector for statistical data analysis, synthesis of a broad spectrum of data source, harmonization, and institutionalization of data management tools (intervention profiling tool and sector dashboards), and to assist the Federal Ministry of Water Resources (FMWR) to roll out these tools at the sub-national level through the transfer of requisite skills and capacities for periodic data updates while ensuring that measures are in place to enable the use of data and evidence generated for policy formulation, planning, and budgeting at all levels.

Summary of Key Functions / Accountabilities

  • Task 1: Support the FMWR to scale up systems for data and information management and to generate state WASH profiles for all the states in Nigeria from the NORM data
  • Task 2: Conduct and sector-wide trend analysis of key indicators at the national level and produce infographics to highlight these trends as advocacy products
  • Task 3: Support the update of the WASH intervention profiling tool using the WASHNORM 2021 data.
  • Task 4: Provide technical support to the government on completing and finalizing the WASH accounts analysis
  • Task 5: Conduct a correlation analysis of WASH data on key indicators with data for health, nutrition, and education on the relationship between these outcome areas and child survival in Nigeria
  • Task 6A: Support the FMWR to develop a capacity-building plan for National and sub-national level officers on data management, analysis, and use.
  • Task 6B: support capacity development and skills transfer to partners through hands-on training data entry, retrieval, and use at the national and sub-national level.
  • Task 7: Support data collection and analysis on WASH project and overall WASH program and generation of the period dashboard for programme monitoring

Job Requirements
To qualify as a champion for every child you will need to have:

  • Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics or any other related field of study
  • S/he should have 5 years working experience in Programme design and implementation especially as it relates to systems development and capacity transfer
  • Possess a portfolio or projects to showcase on Information and Data Analysis using statistical tools, with reports presented in infographics.
  • HUMANITARIAN: At least one three-month deployment mission in a humanitarian situation (with UN-Govt-INGO) is required.
  • Fluency in English is required.  Knowledge of another official UN language or local language of the duty station is considered an asset.
