Applications are now open for the 2025 National Health Fellows Programme. The National Health Fellows Programme is an initiative approved by HE President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, aimed at transforming primary healthcare in Nigeria. It seeks to upgrade existing healthcare centres and construct over 8,800 new centres across all local government areas. The programme prioritizes accessible and qualitative healthcare delivery and introduces new social accountability mechanisms.

The fellowship programme is domiciled in the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) coordination office under the office of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare. The fellows will be recruited, remunerated, and equipped with appropriate tools to drive positive change in the health sector.

The fellowship lasts 12 months and provides participants with training, fieldwork, and mentorship.

Eligibility Requirements

• Must be between the ages of 25 and 35.
• Bachelor’s degree (health-related, IT, or social sciences).
• Demonstrable interest/ or Experience in Public health  OR health-related NGO and partner organisations OR community projects that demonstrate leadership and initiative.
• Candidates must be available to participate full-time in the fellowship programme.
• Candidates must be an indigene of the state being applied for.
• Candidates must possess smartphones with data capabilities i.e. for WhatsApp, Zoom etc.
• Recommendation from the University Dean OR NYSC place of primary assignment, or a respected organisation demonstrating character and leadership.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and entrepreneurial drive
