Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) Plc – Headquartered in Ibadan is responsible for electricity distribution within the south western zone (Oyo, Ogun, Osun and kwara as well as some parts of Kogi, Ekiti and Niger states). Job Description
- The GIS Analyst supports the Network Planning & Design department by analyzing spatial data, creating maps, and developing GIS models to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the electrical distribution network.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain GIS databases and mapping applications to support network planning and distribution operations.
- Analyze spatial data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for network expansion, optimization, and asset management.
- Create detailed maps and visualizations of network infrastructure and proposed changes using GIS software, ensuring precision and clarity.
- Integrate GIS data with other technical data sources to improve network reliability and planning accuracy.
- Conduct spatial analysis and modeling for network design, risk assessment, and other strategic initiatives.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations using GIS data and visualizations to support decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with engineers and planners to incorporate GIS data into project designs
- And plans, providing necessary GIS support.
- Monitor and update GIS datasets to ensure data accuracy and consistency across the organization.
- Participate in field surveys and data collection activities to update and verify GIS databases.
- Provide technical support and training on GIS tools and applications to other team members as needed.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations in the handling and usage of GIS data.
- Prepare periodic and ad-hoc GIS reports for internal stakeholders, including detailed analysis and recommendations.
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification in GIS or spatial analysis is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) and spatial analysis techniques.
- At least 3+ years of experience in GIS analysis within the utilities or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex spatial data.
- Knowledge of remote sensing techniques and data integration.
