We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Safety Officer
Location: Gujeni, Kaduna
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Safety Compliance & Inspections:
- Ensure adherence to applicable safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Maintain and update safety documentation, including MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), safety manuals, and emergency response plans.
Policy Development & Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety protocols and procedures.
Training & Awareness:
- Conduct safety training programs for all plant personnel.
- Organize fire drills and emergency response exercises.
Incident Management:
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
- Develop strategies for mitigating risks identified during investigations or inspections.
Hazard Mitigation:
- Evaluate and improve safety equipment and PPE compliance.
Liaison:
- Coordinate with regulatory authorities, local fire departments, and environmental agencies, for inspections and compliance.
- Act as the safety point of contact for contractors and external parties working on-site.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety & Fire Engineering, Environmental Science, Engineering with Diploma in Safety , or related field.
- Minimum 5 – 7 years of experience with the above responsibilities.
- OSHA Certification in Occupational Safety or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP).
- Ability to manage and enforce compliance under high-pressure situations.
